Welcome to the LPP approved NHS London translation framework website and thank you for your interest in it.
It is the vision of the NHS to procure all services more efficiently, lowering the transaction cost and enabling the Health Service to save money as a whole. This new framework for translation services is part of this exercise.

Services Available
Various linguistic services have been set up to provide you with the means of communicating with hard-to-reach groups
The services included are comprehensive and if you feel that you have a particularly complicated project then please call the NHS Translation Service Helpdesk on 01908 572600. A member of the NHS translation team will be able to guide you through the process.
In brief the NHS translation service includes; Translation, Transcription (of audio material), Voiceovers (all languages), Design (of leaflets and publications) all in over 150 languages.

Languages Available
As part of this framework professional medical translators have been made available for over 150 languages. These languages have been chosen as they are spoken by ethnic groups in the UK and by visitors to the UK.

The Service Provider
K International plc was established in 1986 to assist the UK Government with its translation needs. During which time they have sucessfully translated millions of documents for the UK Government.

Recent multilingual projects that the NHS and K International have been involved in include:
Cervical Cancer Screening Programme
To encourage ethnic minority women to be part of the Cervical Cancer Screening Programme. Involved the translation and design of leaflets and posters in Urdu, Punjabi, Chinese, Bengali and Gujerati.

Working very closely with the NHS trusts involved K International was employed to offer advice on which languages (and methods) should be used to best educate the public on this topic.

Newborn Hearing Screening Programme
Involved the production (from design to print) of various leaflets in Bengali, Chinese, Gujerati, Hindi, Kurdish, Polish, Punjabi, Romanian, Somali, Turkish, Urdu and French. Website versions of the printed copy was also produced.
